Technology is part of almost everything we do in our day-to-day operations: orders, production, communication, information management, and relationships with clients and suppliers. That is why working safely in the digital environment has become an increasingly important responsibility within any organisation.
With the aim of further strengthening prevention and internal awareness, we recently held a cybersecurity training session together with Babetecno, specialists in networks, systems and cybersecurity solutions for businesses.
During the session, real-life situations and common digital risks were addressed, including fraudulent emails, password theft, suspicious links and basic best practices for working more securely on a daily basis. Because, very often, the best protection starts with something as simple as spotting a warning sign in time or acting with caution.
To explore this topic further, we spoke with Javier Gomis, IT Director at Juan Motilla S.L., about the importance of cybersecurity and the role each person plays within the organisation.
J.G.: Because nowadays almost everything we do relies on IT systems: orders, invoicing, communication with clients and suppliers, and production. If any of that is disrupted or falls into the wrong hands, the impact is immediate. In addition, cyberattacks are no longer aimed only at large multinationals; any company can become a target. Protecting our information means protecting everyone’s work.
J.G.: A fundamental one. From IT, we can implement technical measures, but many incidents start with a click on an email, a weak password or a simple oversight. Every person is the first line of defence. No matter how strong the technology is, if someone unintentionally opens the door, the threat still gets in. Security is everyone’s responsibility.
J.G.: The main goal was to raise awareness and provide practical tools. We wanted cybersecurity to be seen not as something technical and distant, but as part of everyday work. Recognising a fraudulent email, understanding the importance of passwords or knowing when to report something can make a huge difference.
J.G.: Cybersecurity is part of our daily work, just like warehouse safety or product quality. With small habits, we can prevent major problems. And whenever there is any doubt, it is always better to ask and report it in time.
J.G.: Technology is constantly evolving, and so are the risks. That is why continuing to learn, staying alert and acting responsibly are key to protecting information, processes and people.
